Elementor and block editor templates
Design your service page once in Elementor or the WordPress block editor, and every page Writrex generates uses that design with its own content: hero, intro, features, process, pricing, long-form article, case study, FAQ, call to action and related pages.

Elementor and block editor templates are counted separately from each other and from your HTML templates. Writrex Lite uses the built-in HTML template only.
Which one should I use?
- Your site is built with Elementor: use an Elementor template, so generated pages match the rest of your site.
- You use the default WordPress editor: use a block editor template. It needs no extra plugin and inherits your theme's styles.
- You don't need a custom design: keep the built-in HTML template and adjust it with the Colour Customiser.
Elementor templates
Step 1: Create the template
- Open Writrex → Template Manager and click the Elementor Templates tab. If the tab says Elementor is needed, use its Install Elementor or Go to Plugins button.
- Type a Template name, for example "Service page - Smith Plumbing".
- With Elementor Pro active, choose how to build the starting layout:
- Elementor widgets with Writrex dynamic tags (default): the most design freedom. Any Elementor widget can show Writrex content.
- Writrex widgets: one widget per section, simpler to edit.
- Under Sections to start with, untick any optional sections you don't want: Features, Process, Includes, Pricing, Case Study or FAQ. Hero, Intro, Long-form and Call to action are always included.
- Click New Elementor Template.
You don't start from a blank page. The new template has a ready-made layout that matches the Writrex default page, with every field and button link already connected, so you only restyle it.
Step 2: Design it in Elementor
- On the template's card, click Edit in Elementor.
- The editor shows realistic sample text in every section, so you can style it the way the real page will look.
- Restyle anything: colors, fonts, spacing, backgrounds, column layouts, images. Move sections around or delete the ones you don't need.
- Click Publish (or Update) in Elementor to save the design. The template itself is never shown to visitors. Only you can open it.
- Back in Template Manager, click Preview to see the design with sample content in a new tab.
Writrex widgets (free Elementor and Pro)
Search for Writrex in Elementor's widget panel. Each widget shows the page's own generated content, has its own Style tab (colors, typography, alignment, spacing, borders, shadows, and normal and hover button styles), and shows sample text in the editor.
| Widget | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Writrex Hero, Intro, Features, Process, What's Included, Pricing, Long-form Content, Case Study, Call to Action | One complete page section each |
| Writrex FAQ | The page's questions and answers, as expanding panels. Writrex already adds the FAQ schema. |
| Writrex Related Pages | Cards or a list linking to your other generated pages, with title, count, columns, image position and full card styling |
| Writrex Field | Any single field, for building your own layouts |
| Writrex Button | A quote or call button. Text can include {phone}, {area}, {business} and {keyword}. Links to the contact page, a tel: phone link or a custom address. With no phone number set, it shows your "no phone" text and links to the contact page. |
| Writrex Image | The page's featured image anywhere, with size, fallback image, link and lazy-loading options. Its ALT text falls back to the page title. |
Writrex dynamic tags (Elementor Pro)
With Elementor Pro, any Elementor widget can show Writrex content:
- Select a widget, for example a Heading.
- In the field you want to fill, click the Dynamic Tags icon (the stack icon).
- Open the Writrex group and pick a field, for example Hero Title.
There are 93 tags, covering every section of the page plus your Business Name, Phone, Area, Keyword and Page Title, a Contact Page Link and a Phone Call Link. Fields marked rich text in the reference list hold paragraphs or lists, so put them in a Text Editor widget. An empty field prints nothing, so unused headings and labels simply disappear. For the hero image, use Elementor Pro's Featured Image tag.
The full list is in Template Manager under Writrex dynamic tags (Elementor Pro).
A template built with dynamic tags still displays correctly if you later switch to free Elementor. You just can't edit the tag connections without Pro.
Block editor templates
Step 1: Create the template
- Open Writrex → Template Manager and click the Block Editor Templates tab.
- Type a Template name.
- Under Sections to start with, untick any optional sections you don't want. Hero, Intro, Long-form, Call to action and Related pages are always included.
- Click New Block Template.
The new template starts with a layout matching the Writrex default page, built from core WordPress blocks with every field and button link already connected.
Step 2: Design it in the block editor
- On the template's card, click Edit in block editor.
- Restyle it with the normal block tools: colors, typography, spacing, columns, groups, covers and backgrounds. Connected blocks show sample content.
- Click Save. Like Elementor templates, the design is private and visitors can't open it.
- Click Preview on the card to check it with sample content.
Step 3: Connect blocks to Writrex fields
The starter layout is already connected. To add Writrex content anywhere else:
- Add a core Heading, Paragraph, List item, Button or Image block.
- In the block settings sidebar, open Attributes.
- Choose a Writrex field, for example Hero Subtitle. The block now shows that page's own content.
An empty field prints nothing, so unused headings, labels and buttons simply disappear. Two extra fields are useful for buttons and hero titles: Hero Title with Accent (the hero title with its highlighted words) and Call Button Text ("Call" plus your phone number, or "Contact us" when no phone is set).
Writrex blocks
Search for Writrex in the block inserter. Each block supports the usual color, typography and spacing settings.
| Block | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Writrex Field | Any text field, including long rich text such as the long-form article |
| Writrex FAQ | The page's questions and answers as expanding panels, with an option to open the first one. Writrex adds the FAQ schema. |
| Writrex Related Pages | Links to your other generated pages: count, columns, cards or list, and an automatic or custom title |
For the hero image, use the core Featured Image block.
Generate pages with your template
- Open Writrex → Pages Automator.
- In the template menu, pick your design from the Elementor templates or Block editor templates group. The same menu appears for scheduled campaigns.
- Enter the keyword and area and generate as usual. The page is created as a draft with your design and its own content.
- Review and publish. The quality gate, metadata and schema work as on any Writrex page.
To change a generated page's text, use the Page Content Editor on the page's edit screen. The design updates with the new content.
Make a template the default
Click Make default on a template's card. New pages then use it unless you pick another template when generating, and the Pages Automator shows it with "(Default)". There is one default across HTML, Elementor and block editor templates, so making an HTML template the default replaces it. Remove default sends new pages back to your default HTML template.
Push design updates to existing pages
Each generated page keeps its own copy of the design. Editing the template doesn't change pages you have already generated until you push the new design to them.
- Edit and save the template.
- In Template Manager, click Push design on its card. The button appears once the template has generated pages, and the card shows how many pages use it.
- Tick the pages to update, or tick the box in the header to select them all.
- Click Push design to selected pages.
Pushing replaces only the page's design. Its content (text, FAQs, images, SEO title, description and schema) is not changed.
- Restore previous design appears next to a pushed page and puts back the design it had before the last push.
- Elementor pages edited by hand are marked Edited in Elementor. You are warned before pushing over them, because pushing replaces those edits.
- Block editor pages show when their design was last copied. To change how one block editor page looks, change the template and push it to that page.
Good to know
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What if I deactivate Elementor or my plan lapses? | Existing pages keep displaying. If Elementor is deactivated, those pages fall back to the HTML template, since their content is still stored. New pages can't use a template your plan or setup doesn't allow, so Writrex uses your default HTML template instead and notes it in the log. |
| I deleted a template. What happens to its pages? | Nothing. Pages already generated keep their own copy of the design. If the deleted template was the default, the default goes back to your HTML template. |
| Does my SEO plugin still see the content? | Yes. The page's SEO copy is stored as normal, so Yoast, Rank Math, AIOSEO, SEOPress, The SEO Framework, the quality gate, schema and link audit all read it. |
| Can Ask Writrex edit these pages? | Yes, for SEO fields, ALT text, featured images and site CSS. Change the page text in the Page Content Editor. |
| Why is the related pages section empty in the editor? | It shows example cards until you have other generated pages to link to. |
