# Settings reference

All settings live in *Writrex → Settings*, grouped into cards. Changes apply from the next generation.

## AI provider configuration

Primary provider, fallback provider, per-provider API keys, model selection and temperature. See [AI providers](https://writrex.com/docs-ai-providers/).

## Image provider

Image source mode, stock provider and AI image provider with their keys and models, plus AI image size, quality, default style, prompt prefix and negative instructions. See [Images](https://writrex.com/docs-images/).

## SEO, indexing and Search Console

| Setting | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| IndexNow API key | When set, generated pages are pinged to IndexNow engines on publish (Professional+) |
| Detected SEO plugin | Shows which of the five supported SEO plugins is active |
| Search Console property URL | The exact property, e.g. `https://example.com/` or `sc-domain:example.com` (Professional+) |
| Google OAuth Client ID / Secret | Your own credentials from Google Cloud, used for read-only Search Console access |

## Business defaults

Used in prompts, templates, CTA buttons, contact details and structured data. Brand profiles can override them; blank profile fields inherit these.

| Writing language / locale | Spelling and phrasing | British, American, Australian, Canadian, New Zealand or Irish English — or "Other language" |

## Page generation defaults

| Setting | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Template mode by default | New pages use the designed template with slot content and structured data. Recommended. |
| Section labels | Small labels above sections. Off is recommended — pages read less like a template. A *Reset heading history* button clears remembered headings. |
| Human quality guardrails | Defaults for Structured brief, E-E-A-T enhancer, Naturalness refinement pass, Doorway protection and Vary campaign page angles |
| Related pages | Add a related-pages section to generated pages; choose 3–12 to show |
| Structured data | Output JSON-LD; choose the business schema type; include or skip FAQ schema; set the two-letter address country |
| Exact area mention limit | Default 8 (range 2–20). 6–8 is recommended for most local pages. |
| Nearby areas / local terms | Alternatives so pages don't repeat one place name |
| Customer pain, competitor angle, operational details | Practical context that makes pages sound experience-led |
| Starting price / price includes | Leave blank to keep prices off pages entirely |
| Default page prompt | Classic mode only. Tokens: `[keyword]` `[area]` `[business-name]` `[phone]` `[contact-url]` |

## Blog generation defaults

A fallback prompt for blog posts with the tokens `[keyword]` and `[area]`. Leave blank to use the Blog Automator's content controls.

## Content safety

- **Output scrubber** (recommended) removes editorial notes, unfilled placeholders and AI commentary before content is saved.

- **Hold for review** (recommended) saves the item as a draft instead of publishing whenever cleanup was needed.

## Diagnostics

Enable debug logging only when troubleshooting or when support asks. It adds the *Debug Log* page and records plugin and API errors. Turn it off afterwards.

## Licence

Enter your licence key to activate a paid plan. The Plan Features table lists enforced and included features and your current limits. See [Licensing and plans](https://writrex.com/docs-licensing/).
